As a PSA in Illinois You Have Two Options: LIUNA/SEIU or AFSCME
Who Are You Going To Choose?
LIUNA & SEIU Will Fight For The Following:
• We will get you your OWN CONTRACT that addresses the issues important to PSAs and not the issues important to your subordinates.
• We will represent all PSAs in an unbiased manner not taking into consideration the issues important to your subordinates. There will be no conflict of interest when we represent your issues over your subordinates issues.
• We know how to organize PSAs and other Merit Comp. Employees in a timely manner getting them a contract that is long over due. On average we get a contract with the State of Illinois in under 4 months!
• We will fight hard for large pay increases that will bring your salary above those you supervise. PSA option 7 (DNR Sergeants) got 15-25% over a two year contract, PSA Option 7 (IDOC) recieved parity plus 25% over subordinates, layoff protection, grievance and arbitration rights, and 4 raises in one year, and the Department of Agriculture Supervisors got 9-14% pay increases over 18 months!
With AFSCME You Will Get The Following:
• AFSCME wants to “roll” you into their current agreement with the State, which does not address the issues important to YOU as a PSA.
• There will be a conflict of interest when AFSCME has to represent your subordinate and you (as a boss) at the same time. Who’s issues are going to be more important to AFSCME? Yours or your subordinates?
• AFSCME has proven that they can not organize PSAs in a timely manner. They have been fighting with the ILRB over the Options 3 & 4 for over 3 years. AFSCME doesn’t even have a contract with the State of Illinois for any PSA Option.
• Under AFSCME’s current agreement with the State, wage increases are set for your subordinates. You will get the same pay increases as your subordinates. We believe you deserve more!
